We have some news about the WMU NC website that we’d like to share with you.

We are making efforts to reach more people through electronic media and to make it easier for them to keep up with everything WMU NC is doing. There are three new things we are doing that we want you to know about so you can take advantage of them and promote them to others who may be interested.

There are many advantages to using these means of communication. One in particular is that people don’t have to check our website all the time or receive Tarheel Talk to keep up with what WMU NC is doing. If they see something that piques their interest, with a simple click they can find out more about it on our website.

There is more information about all of these tools and instructions on how to sign up for them on our website, www.wmunc.org.

We hope you will find these useful and let others know about them so they can use them, too.
  1. Facebook – We now have a fan page on Facebook. Fans see things we post, including statuses, links, updates, event invitations, pictures, and videos. When people sign up to be fans, they are given the opportunity to send an invitation to their friends as well, which allows us to network with people whom we have not had contact previously. Event invitations can be shared with anyone on Facebook, too. These are great ways to get the word out to those who may not receive Tarheel Talk or may not even know anything about us. Fans can also interact with each other on the wall or discussion page. At present we have over 300 fans, and a significant majority are between the ages of 18 and 34.

  2. Twitter – People can now follow us using Twitter. This allows us to send them short blurbs about opportunities available to them and direct them to the website for more information.

  3. RSS feeds – People can sign up for our RSS feed. There are many ways people can view the RSS feed, including (but not at all limited to) Outlook, Internet Explorer Favorites, Google homepages, etc. RSS feeds send updates directly to your RSS feed reader whenever an update to the news blog on our homepage is made.
