Students Ready to Serve as 2009 Summer Missionaries |
2008 Summer Missionary Experiences
Once again, MBA has three college students serving with us as summer missionaries. They are Julia Bledsoe, Rachel Lowman and Matthew Schroder and they are doing a great job encouraging and equipping the churches through their efforts.
They will be assisting with at least eight Vacation Bible Schools, providing a week of lunches for 100 volunteers with the Mission Serve project in Charlotte (formerly WorldChangers), helping lead seven camps for children or youth, going on a prayer journey, and more.
At this point, they are scheduled to work onsite with at least 20 of our churches before their work ends on August 14th.
Pray for Julia Bledsoe, Rachel Lowman, and Matt Schroder as they serve Christ with us these eleven weeks.

2009 Summer Missionaries
 | About Me ~
My name is Julia Bledsoe and this is my first year as a summer missionary.
My home church is West Mecklenburg Baptist where I have attended my whole life.
I am a senior at Liberty University where I am studying Special Education.
My passion is children. I love to teach them, and many times they teach me as well. I want to be an elementary teacher and one day hopefully be a teacher overseas.
Whatever I do, I want to bring glory to the Lord. | | Julia Bledsoe | | |
Rachel Lowman | About Me ~
Hi, I’m Rachel Lowman and this is my second year as a summer missionary with the Metrolina Baptist Association. I am currently a junior at Appalachian State University majoring in Middle Grades Education (Language Arts and Social Studies) and minoring in Psychology. I love working with young people and I hope to work with them in some way for the rest of my life. I’m truly grateful for the opportunities I have to serve and pray I continue to walk on this path less travelled. My greatest goal is to simply be what the Lord wants me to be, no matter how unclear it may seem at times.

 | About Me ~
My name is Matt Schroder. I am currently a rising junior at North Carolina State University studying Business Management.
This internship at Metrolina Baptist Association has really let me reach out to others and glorify His name.
Working with kids, and being able to show them the great love of God is really one of the most fulfilling jobs one can have.
The Bible says "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations," Matthew 28:19, and at Metrolina Baptist Association, that is what I am trying to do. | | Matt Schroder |
2008 Summer Missionaries
Once again this summer, three students have been asked to serve as summer missionaries in the Metrolina Association. We are excited about what God will do in our congregations as these students minister among us for 10 weeks.
Two of the three students return from last summer: Kristin Bean, a member of University Hills Church and a student at Southeastern Seminary, and Eric Brown, a member of Cornerstone Church, and a graduating senior at Gardner-Webb University.
Joining them this year is Rachel Lowman, a member at FBC Charlotte and a sophomore at Appalachian State University. | Kristin Bean | Eric Brown | Rachel Lowman | Last year, our summer missionaries served in 18 of our churches in a variety of ways, from children’s ministry to student ministry to neighborhood outreach.
Now we need to know if your church family is interested in having a summer missionary serve with you. This service would be for one to two weeks during the summer, to assist with ministries like Vacation Bible School, neighborhood outreach, a youth project and more. The association is covering the cost of having these servants among us this summer.
- The dates the summer missionaries will be available to serve in the churches is June 1-August 9.
- They will be in orientation and preparation on May 27-30.
- The students will also be assisting us with two associational missions projects during the summer:
- A resort missions trip for a group of youth from our churches to serve at Kure Beach on June 28-July 5
- and the Missions Prayer Journey on July 21-30
