A ministry that provides services to prevent homelessness, Crisis Assistance has volunteer needs in more than 20 different areas. - Charlotte Rescue Mission Rebound Men's Program provides food, shelter, clothing, individual counseling, group therapy, educational classes, medical care and Christian teaching for individuals seeking help from a drug or alcohol addiction. Clients enroll in a free 90 day recovery program. - The men at Rebound are Falling into Fitness at the Charlotte Rescue Mission. Our clients spend three hours of intensive physical recreation in our new and improved gym as part of their recovery. Reggie Lee, our recreation therapist, counsels our clients on healthy living habits, including how to incorporate exercise into their daily lives instead of abusing drugs and alcohol.
Our clients need your help to continue this positive rehabilitation. You can help our clients Fall into Fitness by donating basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, free weights, stationary bicycles and treadmills, exercise videos and other exercise or sports related equipment. Dove’s Nest Program offers free residential substance abuse recovery services to homeless women free of charge. The program is supported through the generosity of the Charlotte community, foundations, businesses, and area churches. The Mission does not accept government or United Way funding. Dove's Nest is in need of paper products:
toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, paper plates, napkins, paper cups, and dishragsDrop off donations at the Dove's Nest home at 1814 Euclid Avenue just off East Blvd. For information, call Colleen at 334-4635, ext. 248 ASAP! - Dove’s Nest needs supplies for their residents. The list includes feminine hygiene products, aerosol airspray, sports bras, nightgowns, and house shoes. - Will you be Jesus to them? Briar Creek Road Child Development Center is in need of after school tutors for the children in their community. Hours needed are weekdays 4-6 pm, Tues. evenings and Sat. mornings. Please call Rasheeda Waleed at 537-4108, or Debra Hayes at 537-1388 to find out how you can help.
- Florence Crittenton Services, a ministry to single mothers, is in need of school suppliesfor their ladies. The list includes spiral notebooks, notebook paper, loose-leaf notebooks, calculators, pen, pencils, pillows and alarm clocks. Contact Sarah Smith Hyde, 704-372-1773.
- Tutors are needed in the multi-housing ministries at Charlotte’s First Baptist and Briar Creek Outreach Center for after school and evenings. Call Dave Hassinger for Charlotte’s First Baptist at 375-1446 and Debra Hayes for Briar Creek at 537-1388. Lend your time and talents to change the future of these young ones.
